Founded by Doug and Liz Cooke, the vineyard project began in 2021 when an additional 32 acres of arable land surrounding Clarks Farm was purchased.  Previously the land was used for local farming and then a brilliant suggestion took root – why not a vineyard?

And so, Mutton Row Vineyard was born.

A comprehensive survey of the land and soil was undertaken and a south-facing 8-acre gently sloping field directly in front of the farmhouse was chosen.  Following deep ploughing and land preparation, planting took place in May 2022.

The aim was to cultivate the best grape varieties which are well suited to the UK climate.  After careful consideration Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Cabaret Noir were selected, all renowned for their adaptability, exceptional quality and suitability for crafting excellent red and rose wines.
